The Hotel
The Hilton Queenstown occupies a private peninsula on Kawarau Bay, Lake Wakatipu — a location that defies belief. The hotel has 178 rooms, many with lake and mountain views that belong on a screensaver. The spa is excellent, with hot pools overlooking the lake. The hotel restaurant serves quality New Zealand cuisine with an emphasis on Central Otago wines. A water taxi connects the hotel to Queenstown's town centre in 10 minutes.
The Casino
Casino Queenstown (SkyCity Queenstown) is located in the town centre. It's a smaller venue — this is not the scale of SkyCity Auckland — but it offers European Roulette, Blackjack, Poker, and around 80 slot machines. The atmosphere is relaxed and touristy, which makes it approachable for first-timers. Important: New Zealand's casino age is 20, not 18 — ID is checked at the door.
