"Sopot is a 19th-century Baltic resort town — the pier, the art nouveau villas, the forest, the casino in the basement of the grandest hotel on the Baltic coast. I've done this weekend four times. It gets better each time. Here's how I'd plan your 48 hours."

Day 1 — Arrive, Explore, Casino Evening
Morning
Check in at Sofitel Grand Sopot. Walk to the Molo Sopockie — 511 metres into the Baltic Sea, Europe's longest wooden pier. 2 minutes from the hotel.
Anna's tip: The pier is free entry before 8pm and after 10pm — go at golden hour.
Afternoon
Lunch on Monte Cassino pedestrian street. Walk through Sopot Forest Park (45 min). Beach if weather allows.
Anna's tip: Book an afternoon spa treatment at the Sofitel for Day 2, not today.
Evening (Casino)
Grand Casino Sopot — European Roulette (PLN 10 min), Blackjack, Poker, Slots. Smart casual dress.
Day 2 — Gdańsk Day Trip + Final Session
Morning
Hotel breakfast buffet (07:00–10:30). Walk the promenade northward for 20–30 min — fewer tourists, better sea views.
Anna's tip: Try the street food on Monte Cassino before heading to the station.
Afternoon
Train to Gdańsk (20 min, PLN 5). Długi Targ, Neptune Fountain, European Solidarity Centre. Return by 17:00.
Anna's tip: Gdańsk Old Town is one of the most beautiful in Central Europe. Allow 4–5 hours.
Evening (Casino)
Hotel spa (Baltic seawater treatment), then final casino session — try blackjack.

Anna's Verdict
"Sopot is the most underrated casino hotel weekend in Europe. The Sofitel Grand Sopot is a genuinely magnificent hotel. The casino is well-run and welcoming to first-timers. Gdańsk is 20 minutes away and one of the most beautiful cities in Central Europe. The total cost for two people, all in, is less than a single night at a comparable London hotel."
